How to Market Your Line to Local Boutiques

The boutique industry is about individuality and fashion visionaries. If you are a budding fashion designer, and you think you’ve got a great product for the boutique set, you’ll need to learn a few pointers to get those boutique owners to take notice.  Here are a few tips on how to market your line to local boutiques.

Product production and marketing are expensive, so start local and let the trend grow from there. Get your fashions on the street. Dress your friends. Give clothes to local artists and musicians. After all, they’re the ones people look to for fashion forward ideas. As you solicit models, make sure they’re people who frequent the part of town where your target boutiques are located. You want those owners to see your work. If those musicians have an upcoming photo shoot, offer to dress them in your designs. Ask to use a photo for a postcard. This gives you the perfect picture for the front of postcards that you can send to potential boutiques. Most musicians want their faces out there, so they’ll happily agree to be your spokesperson and model.

When a hip musician arrives in the boutique owner’s mailbox, you can bet your postcard won’t go into the trash. The store owners will take notice. Let them know you’re an emerging fashion designer and that you would like to place your collection in their business. Since you’ve already created a buzz on the street with your friends and local celebrities, chances are good the shop owner will want your designs.

Reality TV shows real or fake

The reality TV shows is defined as the variant of television programming which is completely unscripted and is based on the humorous and dramatic situations. The participants of these realty TV shows are ordinary people instead of a high profile personality like an actor or a politician. This category of television media emerged from the reality TV game shows in which common men and women got the opportunity to display their talent and come into the limelight. Then in the late 90’s this trend changed from a live game show to the reality show. Thereafter, there has been a major increase in the number of these shows that were aired with the sole aim of providing entertainment to the audience. These shows also became very popular in every country and are most paid for.

But recently, there have been the rumors in regard to the concept of this reality show. There have been the speculations that most of the reality TV shows are scripted and are aired just to earn the big profits. Currently, it is believed that the cast of these shows, even the non professional actors, is made to act in a manner that can increase the TRP (Television Rating Point) of the show. There are various realty TV shows, like the talent hunt, stunt competitions and game shows where the contestants compete with each other just for the sake of money and not for the entertainment.

People began to doubt the reality of these shows because of a famous game show in which the people from different countries had to live together in a single house 24/7 for 50 odd days. They had to compete against each other and the last survivor will be declared as the winner. Although these reality TV shows are not fully scripted but yet, some episodes are surely scripted.

Classes and Coffee

Every college student knows about coffee. Coffee is consumed by the gallon in most dorm rooms as students study for tests, as they try and stay awake in early morning classes, and even as students take the long awaited trip home. Many students will tote their giant travel mugs and cups into early morning classes, sometimes a tell-tale sign of a busy and/or late night. Gripping the mug to warm cold hands, or to stay awake during a long lecture, one thing is certain, and that is college students love their coffee.
There are those coffee drinkers that don’t care what they drink, as long as it has caffeine in it and it keeps the student awake as needed. There are coffee connoisseurs that will only drink what they consider the best, and usually the most expensive, gourmet coffee. There are students who like to drink their coffee black and those with a sweet tooth and must have a ton of sugar and cream. Some students drink coffee everyday and some only when they are cramming for their gmat prep course.
The marriage of students and coffee is natural and inevitable. Coffee is a natural substance with amazing flavor and a smell which comforts most people. Its ability to impart incredible flavor and functionality is impressive and has been the driving force in the evolution of campus coffee culture.  When you head to college, prepare to understand the true power and magnitude of coffee as a study aid, an eye opener and compliment to long, soul searching conversation. That is what college is all about anyway, isn’t it?

Projecting Jewelry Trends for 2011

When projecting the jewelry fashion trends for a new season one needs to look not  at the major designers and fashion houses, but the people themselves I society.  Society is what ultimately dictates the trends to follow.

If one looks at the new fashion trends for 2011, there is a resurgence of the seventies. Neutral by day and bold by night.  Nautical stripes which dominate the outfit with the  added influence of lace and macrame all indicate that society is tired of war and is looking for something more fun and flirty. It is also suggesting in the “less is more” philosophy of the spring trend that people are much more conscious of waste and over indulgence. Green initiatives are more in the forefront than ever and people will be questioning the wisdom of fashion.

This general conservative flair for fun will also be projected in jewelry lines. Mikimoto and his award winning pearls fit in with the idea of classic beauty,simplicity and charm.  While diamonds are and always will be a girl’s best friend, people are going to look at the pearls in new light as a renewable resource.  Mikimoto’s high standards in quality and excellence provide the sense of durability, both quailities important to the new age of sustainable living.

There is likely to be a trend towards high craftsmanship and the use of lost techniques such as the mixing of organic with precious materials.  Mikimoto’s unique and artisitic designed pearls are both organic and precious.  Pearls slide beautifully into the “neutral by day” theme of Spring 2011 but they also come in bold and arresting colors which blend in well with the “bold by night theme”.

With so many celebrities sporting the newest in clothing these days, it can be hard to keep up. What’s even better though, is when a celebrity decides to design their own line of clothing. If you love that celebrity as well as their style, then you may be interested in wearing what they design. Dereon is a clothing line that was developed by singer Beyonce Knowles and her mother Tina. Dereon got its name from Beyonce paying tribute to her late grandmother Agnèz Deréon. “Couture, Kick, and Soul” is the tagline for this line of clothing. Beyonce’s mother Tina is the couture, her grandmother Agnez is the soul, and Beyonce herself is the kick.

When Beyonce was in the group Destiny’s Child, they were wildly popular because of their unique fashions that they designed. This carried over into the company when they came up with Dereon. Oprah Winfrey first mentioned this clothing line on her show, and then it appeared on the Tyra Banks Show. Beyonce mentions her clothing line in a few of her songs, and the company is now working to produce vintage dresses that can be worn by women of all ages and sizes. The clothing line mostly caters to girls and women ages 13 to 40.

The company is a labor of love that is put forth by Beyonce and her mother. They believe that fashion can be created inexpensively. They have worked on clothing designs that will cost less but look fabulous. The most important thing about this clothing line is to have fun with it. When you see someone wearing it, the first reaction you get is that their outfit has soul as well as class. Checking out their designs is beneficial if you are looking for something different and new to wear.
