Most people want to look nice, and those interested in fashion especially want to be able to find fashion that is fit for the runway without paying a fortune. While fashion designers and major labels may be out of your budget, there are ways to shop around and find a look that is current and innovative, while looking like you spent more than you actually did.

In fact, there is no reason whatsoever to not take advantage of shopping online to find the look you’re after without having to pay the prices that major labels may require. Many collections can be found by simply visiting shopping sites such as offers.com that allow you to create the same look with a product that is just as good as the expensive one. For instance, if you really want the latest shoe that is in style, you can find a pair that may not have a major label on it but will look like a designer shoe. Unless someone wants to check the inside of your shoes or the name is typically in a place that can be seen, who will know the difference?

Once you pair the shoes with an outfit that is similar in style to what you have seen on the runway, you can look like a million bucks without spending thousands of dollars. The most important thing to remember is to plan your collection on the budget that you are comfortable with and never feel less than a million bucks no matter whose label you are wearing.

Understanding Value: Fashion

Cost is an unfortunate word. It demands dollars you can’t spare, forces you to surrender precious pennies. Fashion is dominated by this philosophy, however — claiming that outfits are worthwhile only when boasting hefty tags. Price and value are entwined.

This… isn’t true.

The value of garments isn’t proven by their expense. It’s instead shown through:

Silhouettes

Style is more than a collection of colors. It’s instead the way fabric clings to your body, offers the illusion of hour-glass appeal (while cleverly disguising the little imperfections). All garments must be tailored to your height, weight and curves. Pieces that don’t fit have no value therefore. Designer names, seasonal patterns and budget-friendly costs offer nothing in the wake of too long hems and sagging shoulder seams.

Quality

Fashion is meant to offer beauty. It must also, however, provide endurance. Dollars aren’t easy things for you to toss away. Trying to replace the constant rips, tears and stray strings of poorly crafted garments can therefore become expensive. No item can have value if it’s cheaply sewn, made from fabric that’s certain to fade. You must therefore choose only quality outfits.

Applications

There are designs that defy description, garments that are one of a kind. Seeking these is an easy temptation: you want to distinguish yourself from the common trends, the stifling styles. Often, however, these pieces can only be worn for (highly) specific events. They spend most of the year tucked away in your closet — and unable to justify their costs. Value must include the ability to apply items to multiple occasions. Usability is essential for those with limited funds.

These are the cornerstones of value. Price is secondary.

Becoming A Fashion Designer

Fashion designers create designs for clothing and accessories. To become a fashion designer you will need to be able to draw and pay attention to detail. The fashion design business is very competitive, so you will need to be determined. You will also need some schooling to become a fashion designer. Along with design classes, you will need to take as many business classes as you can.

You will need to put together a portfolio of your designs. Put your most creative designs in it so that potential employers will want you in their business. Do an internship as soon as you can. The more experience you have in the field, the better chances you have of being hired. Also, while you are in school, make as many connections as you can and get involved wherever you are able to. As with any job, the more determined and hardworking you are, the better chance you have at getting the job you want and making it to the top.

Develop additional skills such as learning how to use a sewing machine. Potential employers will be more impressed if you have examples of your work. Being a fashion designer can be very rewarding. Keep in mind that you cannot be a designer without first having the talent and knowledge. Also make sure you are familiar with design-related software. This will definitely be beneficial to you. You may also want to have your work copyrighted. Also, never copy someone else’s work and claim it as your own.

Project Runway Is A Hit

The show Project Runway has been a fashion hit for a number of years. The show focuses on the latest fashion designers that are hoping to be the next big thing. The show provides a suspenseful ballade of time constraints, and limits on money, until the very end. The ultimate goal it to win the $100,000 dollar price, and an exclusive spread in Elle magazine advertising their new line that they were able to start with the prize money. The show is based on a rush and design philosophy that is intended to truly test the genius and creativity that designers need to posses in order to be successful in the fashion industry. The hostess of the show is Heidi Klum, and who know more about the need for speed in fashion that a high end fashion model that had dominated the market.

The contestants are tested using themed programs, variable models, and random materials. They are also limited in time as to how much they can spend on creating an outfit made out of trash, or old scarfs. The most bizarre test was making WWE costumes for the female wrestlers. It was like Halloween on parade. The reason the the variable models is such a big deal, is because designers can get used to using the same one over and over again, and the show is designed to exhibit multi-talented display, and versatility to change. Different models could mean different sizes and shapes, that the designer must now account for. This also ensures that the designs will always be completely original, and not preplanned based on talent used for displaying the designs. The grand finale is that the final three contestants are given 12 weeks to come up with a line that is original and exclusive to them. If they succeed, then the prize money, magazine spread, and new designer line is theirs.

Projecting Jewelry Trends for 2011

When projecting the jewelry fashion trends for a new season one needs to look not  at the major designers and fashion houses, but the people themselves I society.  Society is what ultimately dictates the trends to follow.

If one looks at the new fashion trends for 2011, there is a resurgence of the seventies. Neutral by day and bold by night.  Nautical stripes which dominate the outfit with the  added influence of lace and macrame all indicate that society is tired of war and is looking for something more fun and flirty. It is also suggesting in the “less is more” philosophy of the spring trend that people are much more conscious of waste and over indulgence. Green initiatives are more in the forefront than ever and people will be questioning the wisdom of fashion.

This general conservative flair for fun will also be projected in jewelry lines. Mikimoto and his award winning pearls fit in with the idea of classic beauty,simplicity and charm.  While diamonds are and always will be a girl’s best friend, people are going to look at the pearls in new light as a renewable resource.  Mikimoto’s high standards in quality and excellence provide the sense of durability, both quailities important to the new age of sustainable living.

There is likely to be a trend towards high craftsmanship and the use of lost techniques such as the mixing of organic with precious materials.  Mikimoto’s unique and artisitic designed pearls are both organic and precious.  Pearls slide beautifully into the “neutral by day” theme of Spring 2011 but they also come in bold and arresting colors which blend in well with the “bold by night theme”.

There can surely be no doubt that pearls will feature as a mega trend for the second decade of the new millennium.

Dereon Fashions

With so many celebrities sporting the newest in clothing these days, it can be hard to keep up. What’s even better though, is when a celebrity decides to design their own line of clothing. If you love that celebrity as well as their style, then you may be interested in wearing what they design. Dereon is a clothing line that was developed by singer Beyonce Knowles and her mother Tina. Dereon got its name from Beyonce paying tribute to her late grandmother Agnèz Deréon. “Couture, Kick, and Soul” is the tagline for this line of clothing. Beyonce’s mother Tina is the couture, her grandmother Agnez is the soul, and Beyonce herself is the kick.

When Beyonce was in the group Destiny’s Child, they were wildly popular because of their unique fashions that they designed. This carried over into the company when they came up with Dereon. Oprah Winfrey first mentioned this clothing line on her show, and then it appeared on the Tyra Banks Show. Beyonce mentions her clothing line in a few of her songs, and the company is now working to produce vintage dresses that can be worn by women of all ages and sizes. The clothing line mostly caters to girls and women ages 13 to 40.

The company is a labor of love that is put forth by Beyonce and her mother. They believe that fashion can be created inexpensively. They have worked on clothing designs that will cost less but look fabulous. The most important thing about this clothing line is to have fun with it. When you see someone wearing it, the first reaction you get is that their outfit has soul as well as class. Checking out their designs is beneficial if you are looking for something different and new to wear.
